Leadership Spotlight Series

Olympic Ag LLC is 16 miles up the Wynoochee River Valley just north of Montesano, Washington.  As a recently permitted Beneficial Use Facility (BUF) and land application site that provides winter storage of biosolids, Olympic Ag is providing an alternative for local biosolids generators in Western Washington that typically must travel long, and often treacherous routes to transport their biosolids to BUFs in Eastern Washington. In the spring the stored biosolids will be land applied to the surrounding 100 plus acres of farm land.

EPA Releases PFAS Action Plan
U.S. EPA released their PFAS Action Plan February 2019 with the purpose of "describing EPA's approach to identifying and understanding PFAS, approaches to addressing current PFAS contamination, preventing future contamination, and effectively communicating with the public about PFAS." Among the actions, media other than drinking water are included with specific actions to:

Leadership Spotlight Series

In junior high school Mike Van Ham, now president of SYLVIS, took a career class.  He answered a series of questions and the teacher cross-referenced the answers to identify the appropriate occupation.  He had to do the test twice.  The first occupation was “ambassador”.  Mike figured out what an ambassador did, but no one could tell him where to go or how to become one.  The teacher asked him to do the same test again.  The second time the teacher informed him that he should be a mechanic. And so he started down the path of repairing automotive engines.
